Found a very interesting product the other day called Zing! (now defunct), whose purpose is to take a detour around the World Wide Wait. Every time you click on a link in your web browser, Zing! pops up with an interesting tidbit of entertainment: a comic strip, an upcoming movie review, a photo, a snippet of French or Spanish to try to translate, and so forth. All of this is customizable based on the channels you select, and as soon as the browser finishes loading your document, Zing! goes away. It downloads more content in the background, in small chunks, so your web experience isn’t diminished noticeably. It comes with all the options you’d want, and hey, it’s free.
